there sure is... plenty of punishment for not paying full amount (adds up, called "arrears"). but first we'll address what to do:

1) call your caseworker and ask :
---what the support amount is.
---ask if it has been changed (you recieved nothing and no notices about it). make sure they have your correct address, and if you live in an apt building make sure a neighbor didnt get it.
---ask if a "tax refund intercept" has been issued for this case yet, for both state and federal intercept (this is where they take his tax refunds and you get it in a month or so, but ONLY if it has been submitted for its intercept yet).
---ask where you apply for interest on the arrears (yes, you can get interest on arrears amount).
---ask for an an enforcement hearing for the arrears.

2) plenty can happen if he doenst pay it;
---wage attachement ordered (comes directly out of his paycheck by his employer, so make sure your caseworker notifys the employer, and if employer doesnt comply, then you call the IRS on them).
---take his tax returns (and if he doesnt file, report him to the IRS in writing).
---he gets charged interest on arrears amount, you have to ask where to fill out the paperwork to get it going.
---when the amount gets high enough, they will take his drivers license.
---put leins on his properties
---put liens on his bank accounts
---throw him in jail until he comes up with some of the arrears amount.
and so much more.

i'll post all of the info you need. just take the time and read it, learn it ALL. its your best armor.

gone are the days of parents hiding til the child is 18, today arrears are forever. one more thing, if you want to go to college, the child support may be ordered to continue.

take him to court. child support is court ordered, and if there was any reduction in the amount he is supposed to pay, you would have been notified to come to court for a hearing. it sounds like he just cut his payment in half on his own. you can get any due amounts owed to you, plus interest, but you have to take him to court. good luck.

did he go to court and have the amount reduced or just did it on his own?if the court was involved you should have received notice from them,if he is in a money crunch and has just cut the amount then your mom needs to talk to him see why he has done this and work with him to get it back on track if that's not an option then she can file a court order to pay in my state when the child support is behind the state can pull the payees driver licenses.
