How do I replace the video card on an NEC GT100 desktop?
I have done this on other pc's, but those cards were identifiable because only the monitor cord plugged into the card. When I opened the tower I saw that the monitor plugs into what looks like the motherboard. How do I identify the video card?

The NEC GT100 has what is called "onboard" video, that is, the video "card" is built into the motherboard. If you have an open PCI slot, a PCI video card will go into one of those.
Be aware that you might have to place a jumper on the motherboard in order to disable the onboard video. Here is quote from a message base on just that issue.
"There is a jumper just above the top PCI slot that has to be closed to allow the use of a PCI video card."
Another posting indicates a BIOS change might need to be done as well.
"I put my [video card] in, went to BIOS and changed the setting ‘Init display first’ to ‘PCI’ instead of ‘on-board’ …"
No matter what, check to see if you have an open PCI slot, make sure that any video card you buy is PCI and make sure you can return it for any reason with no restocking charges.
