anyone know if ‘glossy-screen’ (Opticlear) LCD monitors strain the eyes?
im looking to purchase a new monitor and am in the market for one that features 'Opticlear' technology. This feature basically brightens and sharpens the overall display and can be identified by its glossy screen as opposed to the standard matte surface of traditional LCD's. i normally don't associate health precautions with computer equipment but im concerned whether or not the brighter display of these monitors can potentially cause stress to the eyes after extended periods of use. i currently have a CRT monitor that i had to adjust the brightness on since it begins to strain on my eyes after awhile.
i don't believe my eyes to be extra sensitive to screen glare but perhaps they are. either way i am wondering if anyone can give their two cents about this, particularly those who have this style monitor. for the record the one i am interested in is the NEC Multisync 70GX2 (or possibly the 90GX2).
It’s true that all displays can cause eye strain. However, the high-gloss screens are supposed to cause ‘less eye strain.’
I’ve found this to be true. It does enhance colors. Watching a DVD with this display is much better than the traditional matte screen, IMO.
Use a filter. The monitor or display of a computer is the primary user interface. Monitor problems are some of the most common computer problems since the voltages inside a monitor can be as high as 10 KV. Many of the problems can be fixed yourself by simply changing the settings. all monitors can cause strain to your eyes but if you read march eddition of computern
/tech they show a comparrision to standard crt monitors..
Welcome Aboard!!
These so called patented display features of colur, brightness etc is all HUMBUG.
The illusion of colour is got by mixing red, blue & green.
Then u have the brightnes & contrast buttons.
U can adjust these 5 butttons on all monitors as per ur choice.
There is very little eyestrain in a LCD monitor as it is flat like ur book.
Just make sure u get the slimmest frame (the one that boarders the screen). It is large especially when it holds speakers mike or camera. These are best when they are exterenal.
best of lluck.
