It’s 12 feet, if the wall is continuous.
The rule is that no point on the wall should be out
of reach by a standard 6 foot cord from an outlet.
(This applies to living areas, not to closets and corridors etc.)
2008 NEC 210.52 A (1)
Receptacles shall be install such that no point measured horizontally along the floor line in any wall space is more than 1.8m (6ft) from a receptabcle outlet.
The code says 12 feet between outlets, also within 6 feet of a break(doorway. etc) and any wall longer then 2 feet as well. Most things you would use in a room come with 6 foot cords, so ideally you could place an tv, light, whatever at any point of a wall. The code is different for kitchens, which is 2 feet from an edge and then 4 ft to the next.
